Mercury is poured onto the support, covering its surface with a sheet of metal, whose thickness is the result of the cohesion of the mercury. Once poured, the metal acts as a skin sensitive to the vibrations of ground and air. By means of a spotlight, they are projected onto the wall and made visible in the ellipse of light that forms on the wall.
