Sands

FundaciĂł Pilar i Joan MirĂł, Barcelona, 1986

This piece consists of two opposed figures made of the same elements—a wooden construction and sand—joined together by overlapping boards. The mass of sand poured into the first figure overflows outwards while, in the second it flows inwards, creating tongues of sand in all four corners, whose size corresponds to the pressure exerted by the sand. This piece was the first in a series exploring the idea of a circuit.
